Introducing multi-platform app development using Flutter.

DSC’s very first event features viewing of the Flutter Interact conference and an elaborate introductory walkthrough on the basics of the Flutter language using Android Studio. Under suspension of classroom lectures, over 15 participants experienced the convenience of using Flutter to develop apps compatible with both Android and iOS.

Google developer group summit

Meeting developers and student leads of Hong Kong and Taiwan.

During this special trip to Google Taiwan, student leads from Hong Kong and Taiwan universities met and exchanged new insights. Our student lead, Alex, flew to Taipei to present our progress to GDGs and had fruitful interactions with local DSC leads.

Solution Challenge – UI Design

UI Design is a theoretical workshop in our Solution Challenge Workshop.

User interface plays a crucial role in a successful product – it’s all about what the users see and interact with. In the UI workshop, we cover design principles, UX design processes and wireframe sketching that might help improve your product image. We also case study the visual design of successful products including Google and Spotify and identify key elements behind their success. After the workshop, participants will be able to choose the right techniques to display information and enhance the brand image of their prototypes.

Flutter basics

DSC Solution Challenge Flutter100 & 101 are a series of technical workshops aiming to help you develop a working mobile application. After these two workshops co-organized by the CSE Department, you should be able to construct an interactive, multi-platform app on your own!

Flutter102

Flutter102 is the intermediate-level Workshop in our Flutter Workshops series.

In the Workshop, we introduced how “widgets” could be used to achieve user interactivity in a mobile application. We first demonstrated how to create a simple login screen using predefined TextBars and Buttons. We also described how a widgets’ appearance and behavior could be customized. Finally, we challenged our participants’ creativity by implementing a “Magic Ball” mobile application, helping them familiarize with widget customization and random number generation in the process.

Technical Architecture is a technical workshop in our Solution Challenge Workshop.

Let’s say you have an ingenious idea, a fantastic interface framework, to solve the local community problems. But what now? You can’t just turn on your laptop and start coding without planning ahead for your product development. Our Technical Architecture Workshop is here to help you plan for your product development, identify constraints and choose the ideal. Finally, we challenged our participants’ creativity by implementing a “Magic Ball” mobile application, helping them familiarize with widget customization and random number generation in the process.
